- Account registration: When you create an account, I collect your email address and password (stored as a secure hash — I never see your actual password).
- Comments: When you post a comment, the content of your comment is stored along with your account information.
- Newsletter subscription: If you subscribe to updates, I collect your email address.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: I collect view counts on articles to understand what content resonates with readers. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual users beyond the current session (views are deduplicated by session cookie).
- Cookies: I use functional cookies to remember your language preference (EN/FR), your theme preference (dark/light mode), and to keep you logged in. These are essential cookies — they make the site work properly. I do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How I Use Your Information
I use the information I collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Blog and its features (comments, likes, account management)
- Send you email verification and welcome emails when you create an account
- Send you blog updates if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Understand which content is most valuable to readers (via aggregated view counts)
- Ensure the security of the Blog and prevent abuse
I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
3. Third-Party Services
I use the following trusted third-party services to operate the Blog:
- Vercel (vercel.com) — hosting and delivery of the Blog. Privacy Policy
- Neon (neon.tech) — database storage. Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare R2 (cloudflare.com) — media file storage. Privacy Policy
- Resend (resend.com) — email delivery for account and newsletter emails. Privacy Policy
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. I only share the minimum data necessary for them to function.
4. Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.
- Comments are retained until you delete them or request account deletion.
- Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
- Session cookies expire when you close your browser or log out.
- Preference cookies (theme, language) persist for up to 1 year.
5. Your Rights
Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data in a readable format
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time (every email contains an unsubscribe link)

6. Security
I take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) on all pages
- Passwords stored using secure hashing (never in plain text)
- Limited access to personal data
- Security headers and rate limiting to protect against abuse

7. Children's Privacy
This Blog is not directed to children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided me with personal information, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.
